Alice had many on-line friends who miss her dearly. The following was posted on the AOL Italy Board of which she was a long time member:
Our Alice passed away yesterday morning after a long struggle trying to recoup from lung surgery.

I am so very saddened to learn this. Alice was a wonderful person who earned the love and respect of all in this forum. She was accepting (not merely tolerant) of other peoples' opinion, even those she didn't share, and that is a true gift to all of us who came to know her. A great loss, indeed. Alice's memory will live as testament that grace and gentleness endure over lesser nobler feelings.
The surviving family members should take confort in knowing that through this board many came to learn of her beautiful qualities, her generous spirit, and her time-tempered wisdom. My thoughts are also with so many members of this board who came to know her better than I did, and feel her loss much more deeply than me. May she rest in peace.
