Comerford, James J. of Wayne at rest in Wayne on February 25, 2007. Beloved husband of Patricia A. (nee Bentele) Comerford. Brother of the late Grace Riley and Joseph J. Comerford. Also survived by many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and grand nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral from the Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd, Totowa, on Wednesday at 9:00 am. Funeral Mass to follow at St. Mary's R.C. Church, Paterson at 9:30 A.M. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Totowa. Friends may call Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. In lieu of flowers donations to the Michael J. Comerford age 88 of Wayne died Sunday. Born in Paterson, NJ he lived in Paterson before moving to Wayne 2 years ago. He was educated at St. Mary's Elementary School and St. Mary's High School, Paterson. He graduated from St. Bonaventure's University in 1942. He received his M.A. Degree from Seton Hall University and also completed graduate work at New York University and Montclair State College. He was appointed to the faculty of Eastside High School in 1942. He joined the United States Navy, where he served in WWII from 1943-1945. He was appointed to the faculty of Paterson Technical and Vocational High School. He then transferred to the faculty of Central High School, where he was appointed Vice Principal in 1959 and then Principal in 1962. He was then appointed the first principal of John F. Kennedy High School, Paterson in 1965 for many years. After that he was the Director of the Paterson Adult School before retiring in 1993. He formerly coached at St. Johns High School, Paterson and Seton Hall University, Paterson. He was a councilman for the city of Paterson. He was a member of the Paterson Board of Education and a member of the Paterson Parking Authority. He was also a member of the Elmwood Park Paterson Elks 60, Elmwood Park and a member of the Old Timers, Paterson. Mr. Comerford was a member of the American Legion Post #0360, Paterson. He was the Grand Knight for St. Marys Help of Christians Knights of Columbus. He was the #1 Notre Dame fan. Preceeding him in death was his Sister: Grace Riley and his Brother: Joseph J. Comerford Survivors include his wife: Patricia A. (nee Bentele) Comerford of Wayne, NJ Also survived by many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and grand nephews. Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd, Totowa is in charge of arrangements.
