Mr. Felipe B. Torres died peacefully with his wife by his side in Wayne, New Jersey on 11/26/2024 at the age of 87. Felipe is survived by his wife, Aida Luz, daughter, Beth, son, Philip, daughter-in-law Jennifer, grandson, Philip John, granddaughter Marielle Alexis and husband Damian Gonzalez, and great grandson, Gabriel Lucas Gonzalez. Felipe was born on 5/31/37 in Quebradillas, Puerto Rico to Maria Hernandez. He married Aida Luz Martinez, his wife of 58 years, on July 2, 1966. In that same year, Felipe joined the Paterson Police Department where he was employed for 30 years and attained the rank of Detective Sergeant, spending the majority of his career as a Detective in the Detective Bureau/Major Crimes Division. He graduated from William Paterson University in 1984 with a degree in Criminal Justice and Administration. His children, Philip and Beth remember him as a kind, patient and loving father who actively encouraged and supported them to pursue their goals. Felipe was passionate about his family, cars, cruising and real estate, attaining his license. He enjoyed the shore life crabbing, fishing and swimming. He was an active and devout member of the Catholic Church, namely, St. John the Baptist Cathedral in Paterson, NJ. A dedicated member of the community, Felipe was elected as the first Hispanic President of the local chapter of the Lion's Club in 1978. Visiting hours will be at Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd., Totowa on Monday, December 2nd from 4-8 PM. The funeral is scheduled for Tuesday December 3rd. Msgr. George Hundt will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Felipe B. Torres' life by meeting at the Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd, Totowa, on Tuesday at 9:30 AM. Funeral Mass to follow at St. Gerard RC Church, Paterson at 10:00 AM. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Totowa, no repast will follow.
