Giordani, The Reverend Monsignor Mark J. age 78 of Haledon at rest in Scarsdale, NY on January 30, 2021. Beloved brother of Nella Gambetta of Scarsdale, NY., Maria Pellegrini of Parma, Italy and the late Irene Bedani (2001). Dear brother-in-law of Carlo Bedani of Acra, NY. Loving uncle of Louis Gambetta and his wife Mary Judith of Denville, Mark Gambetta of Scarsdale, NY., Joseph Bedani and his wife Angela of Acra, NY., Gian Luigi Pellegrini of Parma, Italy, Rosemarie Nadra and her husband Charles of Harrington Park, Phyllis Bedani of Acra, NY and Domenica and Mario. Born in Pessola, Prov. di Parma, Italy, he came to the U.S.A. in 1958 settling in the Bronx, NY before moving to Paterson in 1969. He was a Roman Catholic Priest for the Diocese of Paterson, Clifton, NJ. Msgr. Mark was a beloved priest of the Diocese of Paterson for fifty years. He was an Associate Pastor of Our Lady of Lourdes R.C. Church from 1969-1973. He was then an Associate and then Pastor of St. Gerard Majella R.C. Church from 1973-1987. He was then the Rector of St. John's Cathedral from 1988-2018. He was also the Chaplain for the Paterson Police Department, the Passaic County Sheriff's Department and the Port Authority of NY & NJ. In 1969, he became the Founder of the Christian Riders Motorcycle Club. Every May he held an annual bike blessing to kick off the riding season. Everyone who knew him loved him. Msgr. Mark served and loved everyone whom he encountered. He always had a smile and a positive outlook. People always left him feeling better than before and with hope. He was a saint on earth! Due to the anticipated number of family, clergy, friends, and parishioners who wish to attend Father Mark's Funeral Rites, the following arrangements are designated in keeping with Father's Mark's express wishes, by request of his family, and at the mandate of the Diocese of Paterson in order to allow the greatest degree of participation possible in light of the pandemic. Father Mark's body will lie in repose at Saint John the Baptist Cathedral, Paterson, New Jersey on Friday, February 5, 2021 between 1:00 in the afternoon until 8:00 in the evening. The Paterson Police and the Passaic County Sheriff's Departments will provide a safe and orderly manner for the public to offer their respects at the wake. Officers will direct traffic, maintain parking instructions, and control all activity outside the Cathedral. Visitors must wear facial masks to be admitted. Social distancing rules will be strictly followed. Visitors will file past Father Mark's casket in silent prayer. Congregating and additional time in the Cathedral will not be possible nor permitted. No lingering at the casket or surroundings will be possible. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated by the Bishop Kevin J. Sweeney at the Cathedral at 10:00 in the morning on Saturday, February 6, 2021. Only a minimum number of family members and clergy, who have been issued tickets, will be admitted into the Cathedral. No one will receive entry into the Cathedral without a pass. These protocols will be strictly enforced due to the pandemic. The Funeral Mass will be live-streamed on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. on the Cathedral website (patersoncathedral.org) and the Cathedral Facebook page. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saint John the Baptist Cathedral at patersoncathedral.org/giving or mailed to St. John's Cathedral, 381 Grand Street, Paterson, New Jersey 07505. Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd., Totowa, is in charge of the arrangements. Thank you for your understanding as we honor this great priest and Patersonian. Debido al número previsto de familiares, clérigos, amigos y feligreses que desean asistir a los Ritos Funerarios del Padre Mark, las siguientes medidas se han implementado para mantener los deseos expresados por el Padre Mark, por petición de la familia, y por el mandato de la Diócesis de Paterson a fin de permitir el mayor grado de participación posible en la luz de la pandemia.
