My deepest sympathies go out to the D'Arco family. My heart aches. May God bring peace into your hearts and hold you during this time. I am thankful that you all have each other for support.
I feel that sharing special moments we all had with her brings comfort to us.
To those that don't know, Mom D. was like a mother to me. We shared so much, and she was there for me throughout my life, as well as my family's life. I remember when my father was so ill in the hospital she made a trip to see him and had a prayer circle for him around his hospital bedside. It meant so much to him. He always told me over and over of how sweet and kind she was for doing that for him.
The photo I have included is at my college graduation in 2007. My own family was unable to attend, but Mom D. made sure she could attend. It meant the world to me that she was there, and I love that I have a video of that day with her.
…Our countless after work dinners (when I still lived in Jersey), cards, e-mails, and phone calls always left me with a warm heart. She had a way to bring one out of a dark place and into the light, with a smile…a smile that I will always have in my mind, heart and soul. I have all the cards she ever gave me. I saved them because of the kind and moving words she wrote. Those words made a big difference in my life for the better, and will always be imprinted onto my heart.
The morning she passed I went to the All Saints Church here in Pawleys Island, and sat in the parking lot for about an hour watching the sun light up the water on top of a small pond on the property. It was so beautiful. Later that evening I got a text from a friend about Mom D.’s passing. I wish I could have seen her one more time. The other night I had a dream about a magnificent angelic white horse with long white hair that appeared in my backyard. I woke up and actually went outside to look to see...but it was just quiet and peaceful. Mom D. was very spiritual. I believe it was her strong spirit passing through to let us know that she is not as far away from us as we may think.
