In remembrance of my cousin Scott Chaplain Sr, he lived his life with a quiet confidence; at an early age he seemed to know what he wanted out of life, which seemed to bring him peace of mind. He had kind eyes and a big heart, a crooked smirk on his face, a calm mannerism, along with a great sense of humor. He never seemed quick to judge. Scott loved his wife Geraldine from the moment they met, a love affair that lasted a life time, in Geraldine he found his home. His love for his children was unconditional and he enjoyed them, each different and unique. His humor, smile and kindness reminded me of his father John Chaplain (“Chappy). Mr. Healy and Uncle Chappy both set great examples that helped shape Scott into a wonderful man, Scott was always humble and never afraid to march to his own beat. He knew the meaning of honor, respect, loyalty and commitment. He enjoyed the simple joys of everyday living with those he treasured. Scott was one of a kind, and as our grandmother would say "a wise old soul". He was also supportive son, uncle, brother and cousin. I will treasure the memories of South Paterson and Haskell.
Geraldine, Christine, Caitlyn and Scott our heartfelt condolences are with you and you will remain in our thoughts and prayers. We will keep our memories of Scott in our hearts and he will always be a part of the Sedeyn, Chaplain and Healy family. As we bid him farewell for the next part of his journey into eternal life, may you find peace and comfort in the way Scott lived and know he is always with you always. May he rest in peace, in the arms of our Lord until we met in Heaven.

Growing up Scott always had that twinkle in his eyes and that sly smile. He loved to tease me. He enjoyed getting a reaction out of me. I secretly enjoyed being tortured by him. I knew it was all in fun. Geraldine came into Scott's life and instantly became family to all of us. They complimented each other and stayed together all these years. I know Scott will be watching over his family from above. Scott, you were there for me when Tony died. I will never forget that or you. I can't be there in NJ, however, your in my heart and prayers. Condolences to Geraldine, Christine, Katelyn, Scott and Craig. Grandma said only special people were taken during the Christmas season. She was right you rank right up there with the special ones! You have lots of good company where your going. Gone but never to be forgotten. Rest in peace.
