Parkin, Grace (Sister Mary Grace) age 85 of Haledon, NJ, passed peacefully in her home in Easton, PA on May 15th, 2019. Beloved daughter of the Late Ines Parkin (Neill) and Henry Parkin. She was a selfless person with a generous heart. She enjoyed painting, reading and learning. She received her Bachelor and Masters in Education as an Elementary School Teacher at William Paterson University and then received her Masters in Arts at Columbia University. She loved children and taught grades 1 through 5, but second grade was her favorite. After some time Grace received her calling and entered Convent the Sisters of the Transfiguration in Ohio as a Religious Sister. While a Religious Sister and an educator at the Bethany School in Ohio, she became a Principal of said school. She was very involved and instrumental in the opening of St. Luke`s Retreat House in North Carolina. She then moved to Philadelphia, PA where she continued teaching. She also received her Masters in Pastoral Counseling at LaSalle University. After retiring she moved back to New Jersey and then in her later years to Pennsylvania. Friends are invited to pay their respects, attend the services and Interment at the Laurel Grove Cemetery, 295 Totowa Rd, Totowa, NJ 07512 on May 21, 2019 at 11:00.
