Toomey, Helen (nee Jordan) age 87, formerly of Totowa of 63 years at rest in Boca Raton, Florida on July 16, 2018. She was predeceased in death by her first husband, Samuel Blasi and her second husband Edward Toomey. Mrs. Toomey was also predeceased by her step-son Mark Toomey and her brother Carlo Jordan. Loving mother of Raymond Blasi and his wife Lisa of Boca Raton, Fl. Mother-in-law of Gail Richmond and her husband Paul of Connecticut. Dear Aunt of Lydia Alala of Totowa, Desiree Cannizzaro of Clifton and Joseph Jordan of Toms River. Also survived by 6 God Children. Born in Paterson, May 16, 1931, daughter of the late Joseph and Florence (nee Pastena) Jordan, she lived in Paterson before moving to Totowa 63 years ago. She was a typesetter for 2 daily newspapers. Employed as an apprentice and journeyman at The Paterson Morning Call and The Jersey Journal, Jersey City for many years. She was also a typesetter for American Marketing Systems, Clifton, before retiring in 1993. Mrs. Toomey was an accomplished musician for many years, having played piano and accordion with orchestra and as a soloist. She made many appearances in NJ and Carnegie Hall, NYC. She performed as a soloist with a tour group entertaining veterans at various locations and hospitals during WWII. She was a parishioner of St. James R.C. Church, Totowa. Mrs. Toomey served on many committees. She was a member of The International Typographical Union, a former member and president of Totowa First Aid Squad Auxiliary and a former member and secretary of the Totowa Italian-American Independent Club. She was also a former member of Clifton Chapter # 1995-AARP and a former volunteer at St. Joseph's Hospital, Wayne. She was a member of the Totowa Happy Seniors, Our Lady of Pompeii Seniors, St. James Rosary Society and the Totowa Republican Club. Mrs. Toomey was also a member of the Wayne Chapter of the Deborah Hospital Foundation, the Little Falls Golden Agers and Little Falls Jolly Seniors. Interment is private at the request of the deceased. Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd., Totowa is in charge of arrangements. »(Do not delete this line. It does not print.
