Obituary of Harold R. Eifler

Eifler, Harold R. "Gus" age 77, of Totowa at rest in Paterson on August 12, 2017. Born in Paterson, he lived his entire life in Totowa. He worked for Plumber's Local Union #14, Lodi and had been a member for 55 years, he also worked for the Borough of Totowa as an inspector for many years. He was the first and only member of the Riverview Park Fire Department in Totowa to serve 50 years of active duty, receiving commendation from the mayor and the people of Totowa at a special ceremony just last year, he was the 1973 Schaefer Beer "Fireman of the Year" in New Jersey. Mr. Eifler was also an active member of the VFW, Totowa. Beloved husband to his late wife Caroline (nee Lukesavage), who passed in 2014, he leaves behind three loving children, James Eifler of Woodland Park, son Robert Eifler of Seven Hills, Ohio and daughter Tammy Eifler-Barbier and her husband Jason of Wayne. Loving and devoted grandfather to granddaughters Carly and Amanda Barbier, both of whom stole his heart when they were born, and loving grandfather to "Rosie". Devoted son to the late Harold and Bertha Eifler of Totowa, loving brother to Carol Hartloff of Silver Springs, Florida and uncle to her children Sherri, Harold, Thomas, Carol and Christopher, devoted and loving brother to Robert Eifler and his wife Cathy of Manahawkin, and caring uncle to their daughter and his niece and goddaughter Shannon Taylor, her husband Dion Taylor and his great nephew Landon Taylor of Totowa. Caring uncle to niece Debbie Wing and her husband Paul of Chesapeake, Virginia, nephew George Lattimore and his wife Angie of Chesapeake, Virginia and nephew Thomas Lattimore. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service at the Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd., Totowa, on Wednesday at 11:00 AM. Entombment to follow at Laurel Grove Mausoleum, Totowa. Friends may visit Tuesday 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Riverview Park Firehouse, P.O. Box 92 Totowa N.J. 07511-0092 would be greatly appreciated.
