Brother of Joan Vreeland. Survivors include 8 grandchildren and 4 Great grandchildren. Payne age 83 of Somerset died Monday. Born in Paterson, NJ he lived there then Ocean Grove for 25 years before moving to Somerset a year ago. He was a Motor Vehicle Inspector for the N.J. Department of Motor Vehicle in Ridgewood and Asbury Park for many years before retiring 21 years ago. Mr. Payne was a World War II Navy veteran. He served on the U.S.S. Eichenberger and was a member of the Destroyer-Escort Sailors Association. Preceeding him in death is his wife: Helen R. (nee Terhune) Payne Survivors include: 2 sons: Joseph W. Payne of Long Beach, CA Dennis H. Payne of Doraville, GA A daughter: Judith A.
