OBITUARY

Joseph P. Payne age 83 of Somerset died Monday. Born in Paterson, NJ he lived there then Ocean Grove for 25 years before moving to Somerset a year ago. He was a Motor Vehicle Inspector for the N.J. Department of Motor Vehicle in Ridgewood and Asbury Park for many years before retiring 21 years ago. Mr. Payne was a World War II Navy veteran. He served on the U.S.S. Eichenberger and was a member of the Destroyer-Escort Sailors Association.
