Here's to the memories!
The New Yorker hotel, Lindy's Jewish Deli Restaurant, High Tea at the Waldorf. Just a few treasures to carry in my heart.
My trips to Fort Dix where you hid your beer in the snow.
I knew you loved me when, during one of those trips, I forgot to check the oil in your classic car and wrecked the engine and I got away with it.
Nobody made better corned beef than you. When you got it all ready in the pot, and I was left to look after it, I got very strict orders especially about just letting the water barely move, don't even let it simmer. My funniest memorie of those huge St. Patrick Day dinners was when we took down our bedroom furniture and put in the hallway. The bedroom became our dining room. We were crazy. I remember going to church the next morning without ever going to bed. Good times!
I remember how touched and happy I was when you surprised me with a corsage as I was leaving for church to sing in the choir on Christmas Eve.
When we went down to the Paterson Rod and Gun store and bought Butch for $5.00. You drove home with him in your jacket pocket and if I remember right, he was chewing a hole in it. Fun times!
I wish we could have made the whole journey together, but I have no regrets about the love I had for you. It only comes once in a lifetime, whether it stays strong or not. Those of us who experience it are so blessed.
May your soul rest in the peace of our Lord and Savior, Jesus the Christ. I will always pray for you.

My heart, my thoughts and my prayers goes out to my wonderful nieces and nephews whom I love so much and the wonderful Cullen clan. There isn't enough space to convey my thoughts at the moment other than to say I have always admired Bob and have nothing but great memories of the times I spent with him in the past. Even though the many years have seperated us the times I was with Bob stay fresh in my mind. Bob, you always treated me so kind and you made me feel "special" the times we were together. You treated my mother with the greatest of respect and I loved you for that. You showed us a spirit of giving and support every time we came to visit from California. I remember your smile, your sense of humor, the laughter we always enjoyed. Those special times on McBride with the barbeques. You were an awesome chef!! I have many loving memories and cherished moments with you and your family. When I was a young boy I remember your "Sweet Shop" and the apartment above. I never got the opportunity to tell you I thought you were a bigger than life hero doing what you did. The times we went over to Muccios and you would buy me birch beer (on tap) and we would play pool. Innocent times, good times, great memories. My sadness is I never got to say these things to your face and I never got to say "thank you" for those memories. You have a wonderful family which is your legacy and I will keep the memory of our times together close to my heart. I know you will be greatly missed. I choose to celebrate your life and not mourn your death, I think that is what you would want. Here's to living life "large" brother-in-law.

As its time to say goodbye
I do so with a tear in my eye
With a heavy heart, a faltering pace,
Never again to see your face
A twinkle in your eye, a smile on your lips
Always at the ready, with a funny quip
A beer in hand, choosing your own path
I can almost hear you saying, "That's all there is Cath"
More than an "Uncle", also a friend
I'll miss you terribly, Til we meet again
With fond and loving memories now and always, Cathy

I am certainly not prepared to say goodbye to you and have been thinking back over the many years. These thoughts brought to mind some memories that are just mine. The picture I have of you at 17 with Billy and I. The time we were at Nana and Pop's house on McBride Ave. I was in your room while you were getting ready for a date with Aunt Carol. The photo of her on your dresser had a crack in the glass and I asked why it was cracked; your said "are you saying Carol is cracked; I'm going to tell her you said she is cracked"; then I was afraid to see her because she was going to be mad at me. I remember the birthstone ring you gave me for my first communion. The Mexican Hat Dance at your wedding. My favorite one is when you would come to our house on First Ave to take a dip in the pool. You did not know how to swim so you would dive in at the deep end and then glide underwater until you reached the shallow end and could stand; everyone would be laughing and encouraging you, but I was always afraid you would drown.
There are many more, but those are the most vivid. I could say more, but I will close with the thought of what I will miss the most and that is knowing you are here for me. I will miss the comfort of your genuine love and caring.
You have now left this solely to Uncle Leo. So pull up a cloud(hope it is as comfortable as your chair) next to my dad and pop and help them advise Billy as he continues his latest project of remodeling heaven.
Always in my heart. Kathy

Thank you Dad!!
Words can not describe how strongly I feel about that statement. The friendship we have will live on in my heart. Losing my father a couple years back was heartbreaking but knowing I was lucky enough to have a second father and friend helped heal my pain. I can’t even use the word son-in-law because when we met up with your friends and introductions were made it was always “this is my son. Those words to this day make me proud and makes it easy for me to call you dad. Our friendship played a great part in my marriage. You made it easy for Carol and I to have a wonderful marriage and one of reasons is your support over the past 32 years. Thank you!!
Fun, it’s another one that can’t be put in a paragraph. A book could be written about the fun we had over the years. A drive church to church with Pop and Uncle Jim trying to get Jim into a good nursing home. Doesn’t sound funny, but I got the back seat with Uncle Jim. The Seaside Boardwalk was always a classic. Playing pranks on the A&P management, not letting them know that I’m dating the big boss’s daughter then working up some scheme to make them look bad. This list can go on and on.
Dad,
Do me a favor, when you meet up with my dad please give him a hug for me and please remember he’s a Miller Lite guy. Make him buy!! I slide money into his niche each time I visit Arlington Cemetery so don’t let him tell you he doesn’t have money. I love you both.
This sad occasion gives me the opportunity to thank the whole Cullen family. You opened your arms and welcomed me into your family. Thank you!!

I am very proud to have been Bob Cullen's son. My dad was a fun guy with a great sense of humor and a big heart.
Dad, you have left me with so many great childhood memories. I want you to know how much I appreciate all that you did for me, and I want you to know that I will keep your spirit alive in my heart.
Thanks for all the fun times we had together.
I will always remember working in the A&P meat department with you on Saturdays. Remember when we used to stand behind the mirrored windows and laugh at the customers?
I will never forget watching you play pool at Muccio's and going to the bowling alley on Thursday nights. Wherever we went, you were a big shot and the life of the party.
I remember all of the fantastic trips to Seaside Heights. Thanks for being so generous and for showing me such a great time.
Our trip to the National Archives in Washington, D.C. is one of my favorite memories of all.
I still remember sitting on the clothes hamper watching you shave and comb your hair before you went out with Mom. I remember the scent of the Brut 33 aftershave.
I will always remember you calling me Riley and how you used to play fight with me, warning me to "Make your first shot your best, cause it'll be your last." or "I'm gonna wrap ya a shot." You were a tough guy.
I will never forget going out to eat at Sam's Maple Grove, Casa Rosa, China Paradise, and McFadden's. It seemed as though everywhere we went, please knew you and loved you.
I will remember our lunches at Jimmy Geez's and how you used to drive Bev nuts when she had to take your order.
I remember the holiday parties and summer picnics when the house and yard would be packed with family and friends. You were an incredible host. Remember how mad you were when you found out that I charged your guests to hang up their coats? I think I made 50 bucks that night!
I will miss the times when you used to invite me to your apartment for a steak and sauteed mushrooms. You were an awesome cook. I'll think of you everytime I watch Wheel of Fortune.
I'll miss you introducing me to people as "The Principal" It meant so much to know that you were proud of me.
Thanks for teaching me to "take the bad with the good" and for encouraging me to "smile" and not be a such a "stiff".
Thanks for these and all of the other special times we had together. More than that, thanks for always keeping a roof over my head and food on the table. Thanks for making sure that I always had what I needed.
I am so glad that you were my father. I love you with all my heart. I will never ever forget you.
Your Proud Son,
Michael

Thanks for being a special part of my life. I have memories that I will always cherish. Uncle Bob had a heart of gold and was always there no matter what; he always enjoyed himself but I think what he enjoyed most of all was being with his family. There was laughter, there was tears, but most of all LOVE. I will miss you.
