Phelan, John J. Jack of Paterson at rest in Paterson on October 14, 2006. Beloved husband of the former Kathleen Hulley. Father of John M. Phelan and his wife, Lourdes and Sharon Phelan. Brother of William Phelan and the late Frederick Phelan. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral from the Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd., Totowa, on Tuesday at 8:30 AM. Funeral Mass to follow at St. Bonaventure R.C. Church, Paterson at 9:00 AM. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Totowa. Friends may call Monday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Diabetes Association, 19 School House Road, Somerset, NJ 08873 &/or St. Bonaventure R.C. Church, 174 Ramsey St. Paterson, N.J. 07501 would be appreciated. For more information, go to www.festamemorial.com. OBITUARY John J. Phelan age 77 of Paterson died Saturday. Born in Paterson, N.J. he lived in Paterson, then in Toms River from 1996 - 2003 before moving back to Paterson. He was a Lieutenant for the Paterson Police Department., Paterson, N.J. working there for 39 years before retiring in 1994. Mr. Phelan was a parishoner of St. Bonaventure R.C. Church, Paterson and was a 3rd Degree member of the Paterson Council #240 Knights of Columbus. He was a Korean Army veteran and was the Past Commander of the John Raad Post, Clifton, N.J. He was a member of the PBA Local #1, Paterson and was a member of the New Jersey Police Honor Legion. He belonged to the Passaic County Emerald Society. Mr. Phelan was a volunteer for the Holiday City Ambulance Corp. Survivors include his wife: The former Kathleen Hulley of Paterson A son: John M. Phelan of Clifton, N.J. A daughter: Sharon Phelan of Pennsylvania A brother: William Phelan of Manchester Township, N.J. Also survived by a Daughter in Law and many nieces and nephews. Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd., Totowa is in charge of arrangements.
