Scarmazzo, Esther L. (nee Diaz) of Montville formerly of Pompton Lakes, N.J. at rest in Manhattan on September 8, 2006. Beloved wife of Emil Scarmazzo. Mother of Victoria S. Cuttita and her husband Francis and Amy L. Leitzke and her husband Andrew. Daughter of Mercedes Martinez. Daughter in Law of Edith Scarmazzo. Grandmother of Tyler and Jacob Leitzke and Christian and Sophia Cuttita. Sister of Robert Diaz and Henry Diaz. Sister in Law of Eileen DiMaria. Also surviving are several Nieces and Nephews. Born in Puerto Rico, she lived in Paterson and Pompton Lakes for most of her life before moving to Montville 14 years ago. She was a Social Worker for the Passaic County Board of Social Services, Paterson, N.J. before retiring 2 years ago. Mrs. Scarmazzo was an Elder at the Pompton Reformed Church, Pompton Lakes. She also led a Bible Study Group at her home. Survivors include her husband: Emil Scarmazzo of Montville, N.J. 2 daughters: Victoria S. Cuttita of Montville, N.J. Amy L. Leitzke of Middletown, DE. Her mother: Mercedes Martinez of Paterson, N.J. 2 brothers: Robert Diaz of Paterson, N.J. Henry Diaz of Union Beach, N.J. Also surviving are 4 Grandchildren, a Mother in Law, 2 Sons in Law, a Sister in Law and several Nieces and Nephews. Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd., Totowa is in charge of arrangements.
