Cancer is so limited...
It cannot cripple Love
It cannot shatter Hope
It cannot corrode Faith
It cannot destroy Peace
It cannot kill Friendship
It cannot suppress Memories
It cannot silence Courage
It cannot conquer the Spirit
It cannot invade the Soul
It cannot steal Eternal Life
Anonymous
Relative to Fabe, today I read this and think about how amazing and strong
he was. For 4 years, he made the most of every bit of life God would let him
have. By doing so, he gave all who surrounded him such a great gift.
Cancer only overcame him physically. There was love, and so much of it;
obviously there was Hope; Faith and Peace were the glue holding
everything together; He enabled Friendships to grow to new levels because of
his positive attitude and courageous spirit; He knew the greatest gift he
could leave to all he loved were Memories; he did his best to make them the
best they could be. Cancer did not Conquer his Spirit, or invade his Soul,
and it never will. Nothing can ever take away Fabe's Eternal Life.

Joe Francese posted a condolence
I am honored to say that I’ve had the privilege of having Fabian as one of my closest friend’s for close to 30 years. I met Fabian in 4th grade. To this day, I can still remember our first conversation. He was sitting next to me in class and I notice his initial were F.D. My father was a Paterson fireman at the time wore shirts with the initials P.F.D. which stood for Paterson Fire Dept. I said to him “Hey, your new name is going to be F.D. Fire Department Fabe. I asked him just a few months ago if he remembered that and he smiled and said “Of course I do.
Together, we shouldn’t mourn the lose, but to celebrate the life of this great man.
• A man who had the utmost respect, love and admiration for his parents.
• A man who looked up to and idolized the success of his brother Joe.
• A man who would brag about his brother Sal’s children as if they were his own.
• And finally a man who would go beyond the call of duty for any one lucky enough to have him as a friend!!!
Among our close group of friends, Fabian was always the guy who walked to his own drum. Who did his own thing, he was leader and at times acted almost as if he was a father figure. When we were younger I’d ask my parents if I could go down the shore with the guys or go to a party with my friends and they would often base their decision on if Fabian was going with us or not. Fabian always kept a level head was always a bit more mature then the rest of us so as long as “Poppa Fabian was going to be their to look after us I was granted permission to go.
By the time we graduated high school Fabian was already a manager at Sears. He had it all….great benefits, paid vacation the whole nine yards. Yet one day he came up to me and told me he was leaving the job. He wanted more…he wanted to go back to college and earn his degree. Before I know it he was enrolled in Morris County Community College. I was so impressed by how quickly he set a goal and followed through with it. I asked him what he wanted to do when he finished Community College. He said, “I want to graduate from Rutgers University. Sure enough a few years later he had a degree from Rutgers University in his hand and landed a great job with Hess and was quickly climbing the ladder of success. That was the type of guy he was. He was able to see a goal in his mind and do whatever it took and follow any path he had to, to eventually arrive at that goal!
Fabian almost had two personas….there was Fabian or Fabe for short. This was the laid back, fun loving guy that we all knew and loved for years. But every once in a while, when his confidence was at it’s highest he’d start to talk a little smoother, there’d be a certain swagger in his walk and that’s when he became “Fabio! A few of us would always get a kick every time he pulled at the ever so exotic name of “Fabio and the ladies would just bat their eye lashes as if they’ve just seen a superstar.
I’ll never forget one time being out at a bar down the shore and some good looking girl came up to him. She politely asked him for a cigarette. He looked at her with a big smile, took a step back and asked her in his cockiest voice…“Hey sweetheart, does this body look like it smokes? While doing so, he spun in a circle to model off his perfect physique for her.
Fabian used to have a few sayings that he’d throw out from time to time on of them being…I’m here for you! in other words what can I get you or what can I do for you. He was always looking out for the best interest of those around him without ever putting himself first. He’d want to make you feel as comfortable as possible before he’d sit and relax. If you called his cell phone recently and received his voicemail, you’d know what I mean. He’d give the whole “leave your name and number thing….but he finished off with Thanks and have a great day!!! Here is a guy fighting the ultimate battle of his life saying I hope you have a great day.
I’ve never met anyone with a more optimistic outlook on life. From the very first day he was diagnosed he not once asked “Why me? he’d barely even complain about it at all. When you’d speak to him he’d basically let you know if he was having a good day or a bad day and quickly move on to see how you were and what you’ve been up to. If by chance he was having a bad day he’d say something like…I’m just rolling with the punches man or…I’m just taking it day by day. He was determined to beat his illness and he gave it everything he had and then some! Not too long ago after he arrived home from San Diego I asked him how it was. He looked at me and said “Joe, it’s absolutely gorgeous and after I get better I’m moving out there and starting over!
The other night a friend broke down crying and asked “Why him?…why Fabian?
And all I could think was Fabian wouldn’t have it any other way. Like I said earlier…he is a leader. If I know Fabian he swaggered through Heaven’s gates like he owned the place. He’s up there right now scoping out all the cool places to hang out and learning all the in’s and out’s so that when we all finally get there He can say “I’m here for you!
Another one of Fabian’s phrases he used quite often as we were growing up. He would refer to events in his life whether it be good or bad event as “Chapters. For example, when we’d be all bummed out on the plane ride home from one of our many spring break trips he’d look over and say. “Another chapters ends and another one begins! So now with that philosophy in mind I like to say to Fabian…You’re first novel is finally complete my friend…Yet book two has just begun!
You've been gone now just over 1 week and I miss you as if it's been years! Rest in peace pal!
