Obituary of Carmela Moscariello

Please share a memory of Carmela to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Carmela Moscariello, (Dragone) age 86 of Totowa, passed away on December 14, 2024.

Carmela was born to Antonietta (Basile) and Salvatore Dragone in Montella, Av, Italy.

Carmela met and married her husband, Aniello, while living in Italy and had 5 daughters who she cared for immensely. Her love for children was a constant in her life. Carmela spent time in Florence caring for children, including her own, at Ospedale Pediatrico Meyer. Carmela and Aniello moved to the United States with their daughter, Lorella, in 1975. After moving to Paterson, Carmela worked as a seamstress at Style Sports, a coat factory, for 23 years prior to retiring. Following that chapter, she became a caretaker for many children throughout the years, which was a true passion of hers.

A force of nature, Carmela will lovingly be remembered for her energetic, infectious personality, strength, and generous nature. Her devotion to her friends and family was at the center of all that she did throughout her life.

Carmela was a parishioner of St. James of the Marches Church in Totowa. She enjoyed taking day trips with the parish and also enjoyed traveling back to Italy to visit family as often as she could. As the matriarch of her family, she shared that her greatest joy and proudest accomplishment was raising her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She supported them in their many endeavors as their biggest cheerleader until her passing. She spent much of her time cooking for her family, creating memories through her food and drinking espresso and partaking in many conversations and laughs with loved ones. She also was an avid gardener, growing produce that was used in many of her recipes.

Carmela is survived by her sister, Lidia (Dragone) Cavallo; daughter, Lorella (Moscariello) Gloor of Ringwood; son-in-law, Frank Gloor of Totowa; her grandchildren: Erin Nicole Gloor of Caldwell, Elizabeth Anna Palaima and her husband Jonathan of Randolph, Daniela Franca Maria LeCras and her husband Timothy LeCras of Old Bridge, and Frank Aniello John Gloor and his wife Jessica of Totowa; her great-grandchildren: Sofia Gloor, Jakob Gloor, Matteo LeCras, and Duane Palaima; numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Carmela was predeceased by her parents: Salvatore and Antonietta; brothers: Raffaele and Ettore; and her daughters: Leopoldina, Maria Pia, Iside, and Rosanna.
