Dear Mafalda, Alex, Ricky, and families,
Like my sisters said, I to, remember when Benito and Mafalda arrived from Italy. We didn't understand a word of Italian, but we loved their laugh and the way Mafalda would tease him. We shared such good times in my grandparents basement. Our parents, Richie and Connie shared in the memories, laughter, and the many parties we had in our backyard under the tree where Benito and my grandfather would drink my grandfather's homemade wine and tell stories of the old country.
May Benito's memory live on, and may the love of family and friends help you through this sorrowful time.
Thoughtfully, Constance Ann (Gennaro) Colella

Dear Mafalda, Alex, Ricky and your family, it is with heartfelt sympathy and condolences to you upon hearing of Benito’s passing. I clearly remember the first time that Madeline, Constance, Regina and I (Joanne) met Benito and his beautiful wife Mafalda at my grandparents house (Frank and Lena Vitale) in West Paterson. They had just arrived from Italy and spoke no English. I distinctly recall seeing Mafalda show us how she could climb the big tree my grandfather had in his yard on McBride Ave, barefoot. Wow, we knew this was going to be a fun couple and they were are relatives! My grandfather was Mafalda’s mother’s brother. I recall that Benito had the most beautiful blue eyes and he was always ready to flash his great smile. Those were the days when our families got together quite a lot and shared many happy memories. May all of your countless fondest memories bring smiles through the tears. With heartfelt sympathy,
Joanne (Gennaro) and Ray Dedovitch

Ben wasn’t just my father n law he was the father I didn’t have. His love, support, and presence in my life meant more than words can express. He was always there for me, offering guidance, laughter, and warmth. His stories, his smile, and his joyful spirit made him truly unforgettable. I only wish he could have known just how deeply he was loved and how much he meant not just to me but to all those who were lucky enough to have known him. He was an amazing Nonno and so proud of his grandchildren. He will be deeply missed, but forever cherished in my heart.
