Obituary of Jean A. Moretta

Moretta, Jean A. (nee Mercadante), age 90 of Little Falls at rest in Pequannock Twp. on December 14, 2024. Beloved wife of sixty three years to the late Vincent A. Moretta Sr. (2020). Loving mother of Kelly Kimmel and her husband Kenneth of Little Falls and Vincent A. Moretta Jr. and his wife Lizanne of Dover. Dear grandmother of Matthew Moretta, Kyra Moretta and Sarah Kimmel. Also surviving are many cousins. 

Born in Paterson, she lived most of her life in Little Falls. Jean was an Elementary Reading Specialist for the Wayne Board of Education for forty four years before retiring in 1999. Jean was a former parishioner of St. Philip the Apostle R.C. Church, Clifton and St. Francis of Assisi R.C. Church, Long Beach Island. 

She was an accomplished cook and ensured food was central to every day, nurturing family and friends always. She was passionate about her family, especially caring for her special needs granddaughter. Jean loved to sing and sneak away with her daughter to go on shopping sprees. She enjoyed spending summers at her beach home on Long Beach Island. Jean was always everyone's champion, ensuring every single person who came into her life was treated like family. She was an incredible mother, grandmother, daughter, and wife. As the matriarch of a close Italian family, her family is who they are because of her. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service at the Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd., Totowa, on Thursday, December 19, 2024 at 10:00 AM. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Totowa. Friends may visit Wednesday, December 18, 2024 from 4:00-8:00 PM.
