Obituary of Raffaela Maietta

Raffaela "Lina" Maietta (née Ludovico) passed peacefully on Saturday September 7, 2024 at The Chelsea in Washington Township. Friends and Relatives may visit on Wednesday September 11, 2024 from 4pm- 8pm at Festa Funeral Home 111 Union Blvd, Totowa NJ. All are welcome to attend Mass at 10am at Saint Mary Help of Christians RC Church, 410 Union Ave, Paterson NJ on Thursday, September 12th. Entombment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Totowa. Raffaela was born to the late Antonio Ludovico and Filomena DeLeone. She grew up in Cerreto Sannita (BN), Italy. She was raised with her four brothers, and is predeceased by Giovanni Ludovico, Carlo Ludovico, and Raffaele Ludovico. A typical Italian Nonna, Raffaela "Lina" was a great homemaker and cook. She loved feeding family and friends alike. In Italy she was an apprentice to a seamstress so she was talented in sewing, knitting and crochet. To help make ends meet, she took on small tailoring jobs for friends and neighbors. Raffaela loved the opera and soccer, Forza Juventus! She was a devout Catholic, spending most of her day praying for her loved ones. Raffaela was a proud mother. She took pride in raising her children, grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and any neighborhood child was welcome in her home. For over 25 years, she hosted a St. Anthony Feast in her backyard, keeping a hometown tradition alive for paisani here in America. Her favorite holiday was Christmas Eve, she loved having all her family in the same place. Raffaela is survived by her husband, Antonio Maietta; her children, Nicola Maietta and his wife Maria Maietta, Michele Maietta and his wife Michelle Maietta, Michelina Robb and her husband John Robb III, and Antonella Maietta and her partner James Leitch; her grandchildren, Cristina and Michael Maietta, John Robb IV, and Nicolette Maietta; her brother Vincenzo Ludovico; her grand pups, Daisy (Margarita) and Lainey. She would want to be remembered for having strong family values, and placing the bonds and loyalty of the family in the highest regard.
