Obituary of James Jurewicz

Jurewicz, James age 69 of Toms River, formerly of Paterson on June 5, 2024. Born in Paterson, he lived in Paterson most of his life, before moving to Toms River 20 years ago. James served 30 years with the Paterson Police Department, retiring as Lieutenant in 2004. He received many accolades as a police officer, including "Policeman of the Year". He was a member of the Paterson PBA Local #1. James was a training officer for the Paterson Police Academy and was a Defensive Driving Instructor for the New Jersey State Police. He was an avid fisherman and a Coast Guard certified Boat Captain.

Dear son of the late Dr. Felix and the late Dorothy (nee Porecki) Jurewicz. Devoted brother of Nancy Jurewicz of Oklahoma, Bob Jurewicz & his wife, Martha of Riverdale, JoEllen Scillieri of Hawthorne and the late Trisha Jurewicz. Dear uncle of Stephen "T.J." Scillieri and his wife Melissa, Robert Jurewicz, Michael Jurewicz and his wife Michelle,l James Jurewicz and his wife Courtney and the late Sean Scillieri. Grand uncle to Ryan, Julian, Ronan, Maclan and Easton.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral from the Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd, Totowa, on Monday at 9:15 AM. Funeral Mass to follow at St. Gerard RC Church, Paterson at 10:00 AM. Cremation will be private. Friends may visit Sunday 3:00-7:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Wounded Warrior Project and/or the Tunnel to Towers Foundation would be appreciated.
