Obituary of Caterina Battimelli

Battimelli, Caterina (nee Dematteo), age 83 of Paterson at rest in Paterson on March 5, 2024. Beloved wife of the late Pietro Battimelli (2017). Loving mother of Lia Calix and her husband Vincent of Fairfield and Massimo Battimelli of Paterson. Dear grandmother of Daniel Calix, Giuliana Calix and Alexis Battimelli. Sister of Maria Avino and her late husband Arcangelo, Andrea Dematteo and his wife Immacolata, both of Italy, and the late Silvestro Dematteo and the late Domenico Dematteo and his wife, the late Sara Dematteo. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews and sisters and brothers in law. Born in Cervino, Prov di Caserta, Italy, she was raised in Naples Italy and came to the U.S.A. in 1966 settling in Paterson. She was a Food Service Supervisor for the Paterson Board of Education, Norman S. Weir School, Paterson, before retiring in 2006. Caterina was a former parishioner of St. Michael's and St. Mary's R.C. Churches in Paterson. She enjoyed tending to her vegetable and floral gardens. She was a great cook and baker. She lived through her grandchildren and all of their activities. She cherished any time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral from the Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd., Totowa, on Monday, March 11, 2024 at 9:30 AM. Funeral Mass to follow at St. Gerard R.C. Church, Paterson at 10:00 AM. Entombment to follow at Laurel Grove Memorial Park Mausoleum, Totowa. Friends may visit on Sunday, March 10, 2024 from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM.
