My sincere condolences to all of Ottie’s family. I met Ottie in 1973 when we worked together at Tyco Shipping in Clifton. I was recently out of high school and she took me under her wing on day one on the job. We quickly became good friends and spent many years hanging out together. We bowled together, spent a summer vacation down the shore but mostly hung out (me at her house almost daily). Her family became my second family. There is a season for everything and once I moved out of state, our friendship was still there, however, we didn’t keep in touch as much, which I regret. I am forever grateful for the friendship we shared over the years. Ottie will always have a special place in my heart. Rest in peace, my friend.

Dear Ottie,
We have so many memories being lifetime friends. Starting school together, boyfriends, graduation, working for NJ Bell, getting married, children, grandchildren, and then great grandchildren. The years have gone by so quickly and I will miss you very much. You always had a sense of humor, and loved to plan our class reunions. You did a great job, especially the 50th.
Rest in peace dear friend.
Carol

Sincere sympathy to Otti's family I have known Otti for many years through bowling. She was always a joy to bowl and talk with while we bowled our best. She will be missed by many on the league. Joy

To Mark and family - I have only fond memories of your mom. She and I worked together on a lot of projects we had at Standard Tile. I was the customer and she was the somewhat sassy, gruff and loveable sales lady. We shared a lot of laughs together and I always looked forward to seeing her at the shop. She was kind and patient - well - kind of patient - and always made me feel welcomed. You should be very proud of the mom you have. Thank you for sharing her with us. Joseph Mecca

Ottie was an amazing woman! She was the daughter of my dad‘s cousin Max. That made Ottie and I second cousins and there was 27 years between us. Growing up, I wasn’t that close to her, but over the last several decades, she and I became more than family, we developed a deep friendship. I admired her for so many different reasons, the love she had for her family the dedication she had to all her different interests. Not the least of which was her bowling leagues and the Paterson Sangerbund. the latter, a German-American singing society that both her dad and my dad belong to, and derived massive amounts of pleasure through both song and friendships for the majority of their lives.
Over the past couple months, I’ve visited Ottie many times, either by myself or with my wife Manny. On a couple occasions we even brought our two year old granddaughter, Alexis to visit as Ottie really seemed to connect and enjoy the time with the her. Well, the last visit we had with her was about a week and a half ago. It was just Alexis and I and Otti seemed extra happy to see her. At the end of our visit Alexis went over and gave Ottie a big hug without being prompted. Ottie said “I love you” to Alexis and she said “I love you” back. It’s bringing tears to my eyes now revisiting this moment, because even though I wanted to deny what I kind of knew, it seemed the innocence of a two year old sensed that this might be the final goodbye. I actually had the good luck to record that beautiful moment on video!
Manny and I send our deepest love and heartfelt prayers to all the family including her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She took such a pride in talking about you all.
With all our love,
The Kattwinkel’s,
(Alex and Manny)
