Obituary of David J Hopper

Hopper, David J. "Dave" age 61 of Bloomfield at rest in Paterson on January 13, 2024. Beloved husband of the former Maritza Perez of Bloomfield. Loving father of David J Hopper Jr. and his wife Yahaira of Totowa. Step father of Philip Gabriel and Brittany Gabriel. Dear son of Noreen (nee Gorman) Hopper and the late Archibald Hopper. Loving grandfather of Nathaniel Hopper, Victoria Hopper, Philip John Gabriel, Connor Lee Gabriel and Eanais Jerez Gabriel. Brother of the late Gregory Hopper (2018) and the late Robert Hopper (2014). Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and his beloved pet dogs, Holly and Buster. Born in Paterson, he lived in Paterson for most of his life before moving to Bloomfield fifteen years ago. He was a Detective Corporal for the Paterson Police Department for twenty five years before retiring in 2008. Dave belonged to the Paterson Police PBA #1 and was a United States Air Force Veteran. He enjoyed the Jersey Shore and trips to Atlantic City. He loved junk food and was an avid dog lover who cherished time spent with his family. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral from the Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd. Totowa, on Thursday, Jan. 18, 2024 at 9:30 AM. Funeral mass to follow at St. John's Cathedral, Paterson at 10:00 AM. Committal prayers to follow at Cedar Lawn Crematory, Paterson.. Friends may visit on Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2024 from 4:00-8:00 PM.
