I send my condolences. I have very many memories of Beef from when we were children. I was five years older than Beef, but because of the small neighborhood, kids of all ages played together. Such as when the playground had a baseball team in the summer playground league and we needed players. We on the 11- 12 year old league needed younger players to fill out the roster. I remember that Beef played third base for that team and he was only 7. He was the youngest player on the team and in the playground league.
I would have come today, but I am home recuperating from Covid, Nick Sauter, Frank White and Bill Sakas asked me to bring my condolences when I went today, but I tested positive for the Covid Virus just this last week.
Beefy was always hanging out with the older kids and we all were very, very fond of him. He always wanted to play with us in sports on the playground and we almost always let hime play. The one day Nick and I were waiting all day to play wiffle ball over by the fence and small blacktop in the Riverview Park. We got off the bus, quick changed and started. Jimmy kept saying Nick, Joe please let me play. We said no about 30 times and he kept asking. So we finally said that he could play if he let us call him Beefy Talbot. This was the name of a catcher in a baseball story we read in 7th grade reading class that day. That is how Beefy got his main nic name, " Beefy". I thought you might want to know how he got that nic name. We the "Riverview Rats" will always fondly remember Beefy or "The Beef" as he was know in Riverview Park. He surely was a legend in that park. Love Joe Beltramba and the neighborhood kids known as the Riverview Rats.

My most sincere condolences to Jimmy's family and friends. Jimmy and I were Union Brothers in Local 14, and then Local 24. He was a skilled craftsman, a friend to many who brought a smile to your face every time you saw him. Always an upbeat, fun attitude about him. A good and generous man, gone far too soon.
RIP Jim

From the Childhood Neighborhood,
I (Joe Beltramba)was not able to make it today. I was suppose to bring the condolences from several of Beefy's neighborhood friends of those slightly older than Beef. I share the condolences of Nick Sauter, Frank White and Bill Sakas. We grew up with Beef. In fact Nick and I gave him the nic name that stuck way back when Beef was in second grade. To play a game of wiffle ball with us when he was 7 Nick and I said he could play if he let us call him Beefy Talbot.

When I started the Facebook page, Paterson NJ, A History, Jim was the first person to step up and offer to help. I will always be grateful for his help.
Jim also helped to build my Paterson collection. He and I would trade pieces to fill out each other’s collections.
Jim will be always missed by all!

Played this on my drive home tonight. I don’t know how I got thru this day without breaking down.
From kindergarten on, Beef was there. If you got caught by him bullying me, he’d kick your ass. All 12 years of hell and through this very day, that gentle giant was my hero. His loyalty was immeasurable, his heart was bigger than him. Hard to fathom that it’d be the very thing that would end his life.
Intelligent, handsome, lovable, funny, artist…An individual that only comes along once through your journey. It’s been quite an honor to have spent 55 years with this incredible soul and to call him my friend. I’m gonna miss you, Jim Eifler. From here to my own grave. Thank you for light you brought to my darkness.
“Keep a fire burning in your eye
Pay attention to the open sky
You never know what will be coming down
I don’t remember losing track of you
You were always dancing in and out of view
I must’ve thought you’d always be around
Always keeping things real by playing the clown
Now you’re nowhere to be found
I don’t know what happens when people die
Can’t seem to grasp it as hard as I try
It’s like a song I can hear playing right in my ear
But I can’t sing, I can’t help listening
And I can’t help feeling stupid standing ‘round
Crying is they ease you down
‘Cause I know that you’d rather we were dancing…”
Eternally yours,
Toni Ann Mamary

A true stand up guy!! He used to drive past my house to see if my dogs were out. When he did finally meet them, I wanted him that they were afraid of men. That didn’t stop him. All he got was tons of licks and tail wags. Rest in Sweet Peace my friend!!!
