Obituary of Catherine Galesi

Galesi, Catherine (nee Lancia), age 83 of Wayne at rest in Paterson on August 18, 2023. Beloved wife of fifty nine years to John Galesi of Wayne. Loving mother of Joanne Herrington and her husband Darren of Wayne and Joseph Galesi and his wife Jodi of Wayne. Dear grandmother of Darian Edmondson and her husband Tyshwan, Deanna Herrington and her fiance Royal Ivey, Dion Herrington, Steven Galesi, Mark Galesi, Julia Galesi and Madeline Galesi. Soon to be great grandmother of Dylan Edmondson. Cousin of Lina Cammarota of North Haledon. Born in San Giovanni a Teducci, Prov. di Napoli, Italy, she came to the U.S.A. in 1957 settling in Paterson, then in Elmwood Park before moving to Wayne forty four years ago. She was a Salesperson for Sears Roebuck & Co., Wayne, for many years, retiring in 2006. Prior to that, she was a seamstress. Mrs. Galesi was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Valley R.C. Church, Wayne. She was a member of the Santa Croce Camerina Society Club, Hawthorne. She spent six months a year in Ft. Meyers Beach, FL. for the past thirty six years. Catherine was a great cook making homemade bread, pizza and scaccia. She enjoyed traveling and family vacations to Wildwood Crest. She was a light to many friends and cherished any time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren on the holidays and Christmas Eve. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral from the Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd., Totowa, on Friday, August 25, 2023 at 10:00 AM. Funeral Mass to follow at Our Lady of The Valley RC Church, Wayne at 10:30 AM. Entombment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery Mausoleum, Totowa. Friends may visit Thursday, August 24, 2023 from 4:00-8:00 PM. Donations in her memory may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN. 38105.
