Obituary of Candido A Sagnella

Sagnella, Candido A. age 90 of Totowa at rest in Paterson on June 2, 2023. Beloved husband of 63 years to Italia (nee Sanzari) Sagnella of Totowa. Loving father of Alessandro Sagnella & his wife Angela of Totowa and the late Anna Maria Rose (2022). Devoted grandfather of Lauren Sagnella, Alex Sagnella, Nicholas Sagnella, Daniel Sagnella, Billy Rose, Gabriella Rose, Grace Rose, & the late Noelle Rose (2000). Dear brother of Alfonzina Sagnella of Italy, Giuseppe Sagnella of Italy, and the late Antonio Sangella (2011). Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Born in San Lorenzello, Prov. di Benevento, Italy, he came to the United States in 1961 residing in Paterson before moving to Totowa 23 year ago. He was a Machine Operator for Bomont Industries, Paterson for many years before retiring. Candido was a parishioner of St. James R.C. Church, Totowa, and was a member of the Italian American Independent Club, Totowa. He loved to tend to his magnificent vegetable and floral gardens. He made homemade wine and tomato sauce. He was an avid world soccer fan, rooting for Napoli. He loved to play cards and he enjoyed the Jersey Shore and Cape May. Candido also enjoyed cooking with his wife and traveling to Italy. In his younger years, he was in the Carabinieri for 8 years, traveling the country for governmental duties. He grew up in Italy during World War II and he loved telling stories of his childhood memories of that time. He was very active in his grandchildren and family's lives and would not miss out on their milestones. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral from the Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd, Totowa, on Thursday at 9:15 AM. Funeral Mass to follow at St. James R.C. Church, Totowa at 10:00 AM. Entombment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery Mausoleum, Totowa. Friends may visit Wednesday 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers donations to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 would be appreciated.
