Obituary of Christopher J. Sowa

Sowa, Christopher J. "Chris" age 62 of Totowa at rest in Paterson on January 5, 2023. Beloved husband of thirty four years of the former Kathleen M. Garrity of Totowa. Loving father of Emily E. Sowa and her fiancé Sean Torres of Secaucus and Christopher F. Sowa of Totowa. Dear brother of Yvonne Provost of Glen Ridge and the late Barbara Creeden. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Born in Orange, he lived most of his life in Glen Ridge, then in Bloomfield before moving to Totowa twenty five years ago. He was a Computer Programmer for Russ Berrie & Co., Oakland, for many years before retiring in 2011. Christopher enjoyed cooking and grilling. He coached his children's baseball and soccer teams. He was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan. Chris enjoyed trips to Atlantic City and Las Vegas as well as the Jersey shore and fishing. He cherished time spent with his family especially on Thanksgiving when he would deep fry the turkey. Cremation will be private. There will be a Memorial Gathering planned in the future at the convenience of the family. Donations in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, N.J.
