Obituary of Paul J. Traina Jr.

Traina, Paul J, Jr., age 63, just 3 weeks shy of his 64th birthday, of Totowa passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on September 20, 2022. Beloved husband of Patricia (nee Mueller), and loving father to Susan and her husband John, Francis and his significant other Kira, Jack, and his predeceased son, Paul, III (2012). Much loved Granddad of Madeline, Margot, and George Malone. Son of Pauline (nee Passafaro) Traina and his father, the late Paul J. Traina, Sr. (2018). Brother of Michael Traina, Sr. and wife Elizabeth and Thomas Traina, Sr. and wife Dawn. Also survived by his Aunt Anna Marie Passafaro, his nephews Michael Jr., Thomas Jr., Matthew, his niece Marisa, as well as by many dear cousins and friends. Cherished son-in-law of James and Mary Elizabeth Mueller of Hawthorne, NJ. Born in Paterson, he grew up in Totowa and moved with his family to Texas, California, Mahwah, Ramsey, and Arizona before returning to Totowa. He graduated from Passaic Valley High School with the Class of 1976 and received his Juris Doctor degree from Rutgers University School of Law. A corporate attorney, he was Senior Vice President reporting directly to the CEO of a billion-dollar global Fortune 500 company, Quest Diagnostics Incorporated f/k/a Corning Clinical Laboratories. He created and led a multi-divisional Compliance Department for the company. The Compliance Program he developed was publicly recognized by the U.S. Department of Justice and HCFA as a "model for the industry", in accordance with the Federal Sentencing Guidelines for corporations to prevent unethical, illegal, or other conduct not complying with law or company policy. He was a member of the State Bar of New Jersey, the State Bar of Texas, the American Bar Association, the New Jersey State Bar Association, and the National Health Lawyers Association. He adored time spent with his family and many dear friends. Family will receive guests on Saturday, September 24th from 7-9pm and on Sunday, September 25th from 2-4pm & 7-9pm at Festa Memorial Funeral Home; 111 Union Blvd, Totowa, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, September 26th at 10am at St. James of the Marches Church in Totowa. Arrive at funeral home at 9:15 AM.
