Obituary of Doris I. Dowling

Dowling, Doris (Glen Rock, New Jersey), born Doris Irene Dericks in Clifton, New Jersey, age 93 is at rest on June 30, 2022. She was predeceased by: her beloved husband Joseph W. Dowling, parents, brothers, sisters and grandson James Brophy. She was a loving mother and survived by her children: Kathleen Decker, Joseph Dowling, Jr., Kenneth Dowling (Deidre), Marie O'Neill (Brian), Doris Brophy, Joan Timoldi and John Dowling (Terry). She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Born in Clifton and raised in West Paterson, she lived most of her life in Glen Rock. She was the rock and strength to a family of 9, organist at St. Catharine's Church in Glen Rock for approximately 50 years as well as Alleluia Choir ministry and piano teacher to many. Doris was recognized and appreciated for dedication in Choral Music and praise of God, Our Father, in the worshiping community of the Archdiocese of Newark. She often performed the miracle of the loaves and fishes to feed her family and led them in many musical endeavors. She was a lover of music, sports, knitting and sewing. She along with her beloved husband, Joseph, were members of and team presenters for Marriage Encounter. Friends may visit St. Catharine RC Church, 905 Maple Ave., Glen Rock, on Tuesday July 5, 2022 from 9-10 AM. Funeral Mass for both Doris and Joseph will immediately follow at 10:00 AM. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Totowa. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Claire's Monastery, 920 Centre Street, Jamaica Plains, MA 02130, would be appreciated.
