Obituary of Gerardo Portanova

Portanova, Gerardo "Jerry" age 79 of Paterson at rest in Wayne on February 19, 2022. Beloved brother of Rita Pirone of Paterson, Maria Ficca of Hawthorne, Antonio Portanova and his wife Sue of Wayne and the late Luigi Portanova, the late Alfredo Portanova, the late Silvestro Portanova and the late Mario Portanova. Also surviving are twelve nieces and nephews, many cousins and friends. Born in Avelino, Prov. di Napoli, Italy, he came to the U.S.A. in 1966 settling in Paterson. He was a Machine Operator for Perennial Print Co., Paterson, for forty years before retiring in 2005. He played soccer for the Club Roma Soccer Team. He was an avid World Soccer fan. He enjoyed trips to Atlantic City. Gerardo enjoyed meeting with his friends at San Remo Cafe, Totowa. Gerardo was a very generous and good hearted person. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral from the Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd., Totowa, on Thursday, Feb. 24, at 9:30 AM. Funeral Mass to follow at St. Gerard R.C. Church, Paterson at 10:00 AM. Entombent to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery Mausoleum, Totowa. Friends may visit on Wednesday, Feb. 23, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM.
