Obituary of Karen Sue Blevins Redding

Please share a memory of Karen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Karen Sue Redding (née Blevins), 69, of Middletown, NJ moved on to heaven on January 31. Karen was born in Sulpher, OK on September 7, 1952 to her parents Scott Eldon Blevins and Grace Angela Blevins (née Birdwell). She was the youngest of 4 children and instantly doted on by brother Bobby, sisters Carol Janet, and Betty JoAnn. Karen grew up through high school in Nicoma Park, OK and graduated with wonderful, fun-loving lifelong friends from Choctaw High School in 1970. After marrying, she spent 13 years in Jones, OK where she continued creating everlasting friendships. In 1990, Karen courageously moved across the country to settle for 14 years in Metuchen, NJ, with Oklahoma always remaining deep in her soul. During this time and beyond she worked for Medicia Pharmaceuticals in Dayton as a customer service rep. She worked extremely hard and she was loved and respected by so many. After living in Metuchen, Karen settled at Rossmoor in Monroe Twp., NJ. where she made wonderful friendships with such caring and kind women. In 2012, Karen took on a new role at NuWorld Beauty in Carteret as the Personal Assistant to the owners. She loved her new company, position, and most especially her two bosses. At NuWorld she was valued, loved, and honored by her coworkers and bosses giving Karen such fulfillment in her life. Nothing gave her joy more than helping others and her job was to do just that. And she was so good at it! She retired in 2017. In 2019, Karen moved to Middletown, NJ with her daughter as well as part time in Montclair, NJ with another daughter. Karen's true love was her family. She is the mother of 3 daughters, who always admired her, adored her, and loved her beyond measure. She was the perfect mother. She was affectionate, understanding, fair, funny, supportive, and so very kind. She often worked second jobs to give her girls what she wanted for them. Karen got so much pleasure when they were young watching them compete in gymnastics, soccer, and track. She was always there looking on with love and support. Karen was affectionately known as "Momma" to the friends of her daughters. She exuded all that a momma is with her warm, welcoming, compassionate ways. In 2006, Karen became a grandmother and her life took on new meaning and purpose. She was filled with such an abundance of love and joy. More grandchildren came to her in 2010, 2012, 2017, and 2019. At that time, her life was all she hoped it could be. Karen was a pillar of quiet strength throughout a ten-year battle with cancer. She viewed her diagnosis as a reminder to live a life of enjoyment, and to find small miracles, and to be present in the moment. She remained optimistic and so resilient to the very end. In the truest sense, she is a warrior. Karen is survived by her loving brother, Bobby Blevins, Jonesboro, GA. She leaves but never leaves her devoted daughters and sons in law: Kristin Layne Graham and husband Jeremiah, Choctaw, OK, daughter Kelli LeAnn Holleran and husband Martin, Middletown, NJ, daughter Kaci Lynn Wright and husband Craig, Montclair, NJ. She leaves her legacy in her 5 grandchildren: Caroline, Carter, Chase of Choctaw, OK and Shane and Sloane of Montclair, NJ. She leaves nieces and nephews she loves, and countless friends from throughout her lifetime that became family both in OK and NJ. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at the Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd, Totowa, on Thursday at 11:00 AM. Cremation is private at the request of the family. Friends may visit Wednesday 4:00 - 8:00 PM.
