Madama, MaryAnn (nee Bollati), age 97 of Totowa at rest in Totowa on January 24, 2022. Beloved wife of the late Salvador Madama. Dear sister of Sr. Theodore Bollati of the Apostles of the Sacred Heart and the late Ignatius Bollati. Loving step-mother of Phyllis Silvestro. Grandmother of the late Scott and Dennis Silvestro. Also survived by a niece and many cousins in Italy. Born in Brooklyn, she lived in various locations before moving to Totowa in 1998. She was a Teacher for the Diocese of Paterson. She entered Sacred Heart Novitiate in New Haven, Conn. She graduated St. Mary's High School in 1943 and then attended Mount Mercy College and Duquesne University. MaryAnn graduated from Mount Mercy College in Pittsburg, PA. in 1955 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. She came to Paterson in 1968 to be near her blind mother while teaching at St. John Kanty and St. Andrew both in Clifton. She married Chief Sal Madama in 1983 by Bishop Rodimer for whom she had worked at his residence. She also worked all summers and weekends at the Little Sisters of the Poor in Totowa as a receptionist and did lots of art work for them. After retiring from teaching, she took a part-time job for 10 years at the Paterson Adult School teaching English to the Spanish adults. Retiring again, she volunteered one day a week at the Little Sister of the Poor, and one day a week for the Salesians at Don Bosco Technical High School. She was an active member of the Gregory Club of New Jersey for many years. She was also a co-operator of the Salesians at Don Bosco. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Little Sisters of the Poor, 140 Shepherd Lane, Totowa on Friday at 10:30 AM. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Totowa. Friends may visit at Little Sisters of the Poor on Friday from 9-10 AM. Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd., Totowa is in charge of arrangements.
