Obituary of Gina Mercante

Mercante, Gina (nee Coffaro), age 92 of Fairfield at rest in Fairfield on January 15, 2022. Beloved wife of John Mercante of Fairfield. Loving mother of Angela Alfano and her husband Robert "Bob" of Fairfield and Gina Affuso and her husband Ralph of Wood Ridge. Dear grandmother of Rob Alfano and his wife Katrina of Montville, Gabrielle D'Arienzo and her husband Robert of Towaco and Christopher Affuso of Wood Ridge. Devoted great-grandmother of Robert John "RJ" D'Arienzo and a great-grandson on the way in May. Born in Cammarata, Sicily, Italy she came to the United States in 1960 and lived in Jersey City, then Toms River, before moving to Fairfield 15 years ago to be closer to her family. She was a Homemaker. Mrs. Mercante loved Bingo, crocheting and going to Atlantic City. Her children and grandchildren were her life. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral from the Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd, Totowa, on Wednesday at 11:00 AM. Funeral Mass to follow at St. Mary's R.C. Church, Paterson at 11:30 AM. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Totowa. Friends may visit Wednesday 9-11 AM.
