Obituary of Rosario Petrozza

Petrozza, Rosario "Sario" age 87 of Wayne at rest in Wayne on January 7, 2022. Beloved husband of fifty years to the late and former Antonia Cucaro (2012). Loving father of Carmela Petrozza of Marco Island, Fl, Francesca Vinzi and her husband Rocco of Italy and Lina Salluce and her husband Vito of Fairfield. Dear grandfather of Leo and Jessica Bitondo, Alena and Giuseppe Trani, Matthew Trice, Giampaola Vinzi and Carmen Cantarella, Giulia Vinzi, Josephine Salluce and Antonia Salluce. Brother of Anna Santarcangelo of Towaco, Montville Twp., Lucia Venezia of Wayne, Maria Contangelo of Italy, Tony Petrozza of Wayne, Pete Petrozza of Fairfield and the late Vito Petrozza, the late Antonio Petrozza and the late Arturo Petrozza. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. Born in Montescaglioso, Prov. di Matera, Italy, he came to the U.S.A. in 1958 settling in Paterson before moving to Wayne over forty years ago. He was Owner/Proprietor of People's Park Hardware, Paterson for well over thirty years before retiring in 2007. Mr. Petrozza was a Parishioner of Our Lady of the Valley R.C. Church, Wayne and a former parishioner of St. Anthony R.C. Church, Paterson. He was a pillar of the community in the People's Park section of Paterson. He was a longtime and active member of the St. Rocco Club, Paterson. He enjoyed tending to his vegetable garden and jarred homemade tomato sauce. He also made wine. He was an avid fan of World Soccer. He also enjoyed trips to Italy and he loved cruising. Sario was a mentor for many who needed professional and personal advice. He helped many and was a friend to all. He dedicated his time to his family and brought them all together whenever possible. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral from the Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd., Totowa, on Wednesday, Jan. 12 at 9:45 AM. Funeral Mass to follow at Our Lady of The Valley R.C. Church, Wayne at 10:30 AM. Entombment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery Mausoleum, Totowa. Friends may visit on Tuesday from 4:00-8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 would be appreciated.
