Obituary of Marianna "Anna" Brigati

Brigati, Marianna "Anna" (nee Giaimo) age 88 of Paterson at rest on December 25, 2021. Beloved wife of 63 years to Domenico "Mimo" Brigati of Paterson. Loving mother of 3 sons: Joseph Brigati of West Caldwell, Robert Brigati & his wife Lori (nee Slater) of Woodland Park and Salvatore Brigati & his wife Kelly (nee Haskoor) of Wayne. Dear grandmother "Nonna" to Joseph Brigati and his wife Melissa, Nadia Flannery and her husband Kyle, Domenico Brigati and his wife Claudia, Alexa Amoriello and her husband Nick, Salvatore, Roberto, Anthony, Vincenzo, Nicholas, Frank, and Emily Brigati.  Adoring great-grandmother "Nonna" to Hunter, Hallie, Vincenzo, and Domenico. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. She is pre-deceased by 10 siblings and survived by her brother Frank Giaimo and his wife Mirella of Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. Born in Borgetto, Sicily, she arrived to Canada with her husband in 1959 then followed on to the USA in 1963 where she settled in Paterson. Marianna was a seamstress for many years in various garment factories in Paterson and a wedding dress store before she retired. After retirement, she became a full-time home maker and caretaker to her grandchildren she so cherished. She spent most of her time sharing her Sicilian culture with them and teaching them everything she knew. She could always be relied on last minute to fix a hem, sew a costumes for Halloween and bake cookies on a moment's notice. She loved cooking, baking, entertaining for friends and family at home and in her backyard kitchen. Everyone can remember her fondness for the fresh cut flowers, herbs, and fruit and vegetables from their gardens her husband Domenico cared for so lovingly for her. Marianna was also known for her late-night Italian card games of "Scopa" or "Briscola". Always keeping the espresso pot full and ready for another hand. God help you if you cheated against her! Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral from the Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd, Totowa, on Thursday at 9:00 AM. Funeral Mass to follow at St. Bonaventure RC Church, Paterson at 10:00 AM. Entombment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery Mausoleum, Totowa. Friends may visit Wednesday 3:00 - 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, would be appreciated.
