Obituary of Elizabeth Schweighardt

Schweighardt, Elizabeth (nee Leili), age 80 of Barnegat at rest in Hackensack on July 29, 2021. Beloved wife of Simon "Sam" Schweighardt of South Jersey. Loving mother of Steve Schweighardt and his wife Chris of Florida, Lisa Buniewski and her husband Richard of Bedminster and the late Karen Schweighardt (1979). Dear grandmother of Kristy, Ricky, Chelsea and her husband Taylor, Alexa and her fiancée Evan, Ryan and his wife Carli, and Stephenie and her fiancée Zach. Adoring great-grandmother of Bryson. Dear sister of Mary, Margaret, and Martin. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Born in Romania, she lived in Austria for a short period of time before moving to Germany. She immigrated to the United States in 1950 and lived most of her life in Totowa before recently moving to Barnegat. In her early years she was a secretary for Valmod in Passaic before becoming her family's homemaker. In her spare time Elizabeth loved to garden, cook, bake, and take care of her family. She loved to entertain during the holidays with a ton of thought and flare. She also loved to exercise, was a big walker, and was on a Bocce Ball team called the "Straight Shooters" where she was a 3-time tournament champion. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral from the Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd., on Tuesday at 9:30 AM. Funeral Mass to follow at St. James R.C. Church, Totowa at 10:00 AM. Interment at St. Mary's Cemetery, Saddle Brook. Friends may visit Monday from 4-8 PM.
