Obituary of John Amato

Amato, John age 88 of Scranton at rest in Scranton on February 8, 2021. Beloved husband of the late Catherine (nee Mahon) Amato. Loving father of Karen Amato of Pompton Lakes, and Benjamin Amato of Paterson. Dear grandfather of Joseph, T.J., and Alyssa. Adoring great-grandfather of two. Brother of Alfredo Amato of Wood Ridge, Rosaria Schembari of FL, and the late Joseph Amato and the late Angelo Amato. Born in Comiso, Prov. Ragusa, Italy, he lived in Italy, before immigrating to the United States in 1951 and residing in Paterson until 2015 before moving to Scranton, PA. He was a Shipping Foreman for General Electric, Paterson, for many years before retiring. Mr. Amato was a member of the General Electric Retirees. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral from the Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd., Totowa, on Saturday at 9:30 AM. Funeral Mass to follow at St. Gerard RC Church, Paterson at 10:00 AM. Interment at Laurel Grove Cemetery, Totowa. Friends may visit Friday 4:00 - 8:00 PM.
