Obituary of Marie Scarmazzo Youngster

1916- 2021

YOUNGSTER, MARIE "MARYA" (SCARMAZZO) (nee Angelica) at rest on February 1, 2021 at the Preakness Healthcare in Wayne, NJ. She was 105 years old.

Marie known as "Marya" to family & friends was born in Paterson to Salvatore & Filomena Angelica (nee Cobello) on January 2, 1916. Beloved wife of the late James "Skip" Scarmazzo & her second husband Arthur Youngster.

Loving mother of James J. Scarmazzo Jr and his wife Donna of Paterson.

In 1939, Marya married James J. "Skip" Scarmazzo Sr. and continued to live in Paterson, where they welcomed the birth of their son, James. In 1965 they moved to Totowa Boro. They celebrated thirty nine years of marriage until his passing in 1978.

In 1982, Marya married Arthur Youngster and moved to Woodland Park and then to Deland Florida. They celebrated 8 years of marriage until his passing in 1990. Marya remained in Florida until 2005, when she moved back to Paterson to live with her son and daughter-in-law.

She worked as a telephone operator and then worked at the Book Warehouse in Totowa, until her retirement. She enjoyed walking and ceramic class and her gardens of flowers & plants. She loved spending time with her family & friends.

Predeceased by her brothers and sisters, Salvatore Angelica, Robert (Al) Angelica, Carmela Laneve, Rose Cannito, Julia (Jaye) Macaluse and Ida Ricciotta.

She is survived by her son James J. Scarmazzo, Jr and his wife Donna of Paterson and her sister-in-law, Evelyn Sisco.  She leaves many nieces and nephews.

Cremation is private. Due to the COVID 19 pandemic and the family's concern for everyone's health, a memorial mass will be held at St James R.C. Church Totowa, when it is safe for everyone to gather together.
