Obituary of Alessandro Palazzo

Palazzo, Alessandro age 84 of Totowa at rest in Paterson on December 20, 2020. Beloved husband of Angela Maria (nee Caravelli) Palazzo of Totowa of 54 years. Loving father of Giuseppe Palazzo and his wife Ellen of Pequannock Twps., Alessandro Palazzo Jr and his wife Angiolina of Wayne, Nancy Hortas and her husband Adrian of Totowa, and Angela Siano and her husband David of Totowa. Adoring grandfather of Nicholas, Lexi, and Daniel Palazzo, Adrianna and Gianna Hortas, Giovanni and Alessio Siano, and Gennaro Alessandro Palazzo. Born in Gela, Sicily, Italy on October 3, 1936, to the late Giuseppe and Nunziata (Nastasi) Palazzo. He lived in Italy before immigrating to the United States and residing in North Haledon, then Paterson before moving to Totowa. He began learning his trade as a tailor at the age of 14 in Italy. He would go on to hone his skill leading to a successful and well-respected career in his profession both by his peers and customers alike that spanned seven decades. When he came to the United States, he became a partner with his brother-in-law at a coat factory in Paterson. Shortly after, he opened up his own business, Ital Moda By Alex's Men Shop. Originating in Lake Hiawatha, it was eventually located in Parsippany before finally relocating to Livingston where it has been for the last 30 years. Mr. Palazzo enjoyed life with his family and friends whether it was one of the many vacations he took his wife and children on, doting over his grandchildren or spending time with old friends reminiscing about the old days. He also enjoyed his coffee at the local Roma Club of Paterson and San Remo of Totowa. Always on the go, Mr. Palazzo never took life for granted and lived it to the fullest. He was always a gentleman and showed kindness to others. He was the dear brother of Giuseppina Palazzo (Barchini), Salvatore Palazzo, Manuela Palazzo (Domicoli), Tina Palazzo (Grasso) and Concetta Palazzo (Placente) and was predeceased by Liborio Palazzo, Gina Palazzo (Corallo), Rosaria Palazzo (Limonda), Marco Palazzo and Luigi Palazzo. Alessandro is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers & sisters-in-law, and extended family. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral from the Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd., on Monday (1/4/21) at 10:30 AM. Funeral Mass to follow at St. James RC Church, Totowa at 11:00 AM. Entombment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery Mausoleum, Totowa. Friends may visit Monday from 8:30 – 10:30 AM.
