Obituary of Ventura R Velez

Velez, Ventura R. "Benny" age 73 at rest in Paramus on September 18, 2020. Beloved husband of the late Maryann Lucy (nee Bonadies) (4/2020). Loving Father of Blanca Julissa Rivera & her husband, Ernesto of Linden, Kimberly A. Moreno & her husband, Bing of Bloomfield, and Javier Velez & his wife, Joann of Rahway. Devoted grandfather of Gabriel & Kiera Velez, Sofia, Sabrina, Sebastian, Suzana, & Selina Rivera and Penelope Moreno. Dear brother of Gladys Ramos of Delaware, Ana Martha Centeno of Virginia, William Velez of Puerto Rico and James Velez of Virginia. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and his beloved cat, Scooby. Born in Yauco, Puerto Rico, he came to the mainland as a teenager and settled in Paterson. He was an Equal Employment Opportunity Investigator for United States Postal Service, Paterson for 42 years before retiring in 2010. Benny was a parishioner of St. James R.C. Church, Totowa and was a United States Navy veteran serving in Vietnam. He loved vacationing in Wildwood NJ and enjoyed bike rides and long walks. He was an avid boxing fan and enjoyed tending to his vegetable garden. He loved everything Western and Cowboys. He enjoyed trips to Atlantic City and loved for his family and grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral from the Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd, Totowa, on Thursday at 9:15 AM. Funeral Mass to follow at St. James RC Church, Totowa at 10:00 AM. Entombment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery Mausoleum, Totowa. Friends may visit Wednesday 4-8 PM.
