I had the privilege of singing with Gene in the Orpheus Club (early 2000's). His beautiful bass voice and kind and cheerful spirit lifted us all. He will be missed. Heartfelt sympathy to Anne and the entire Ventimiglia family. Deb Ferrone (Rech)

I was deeply saddened to hear of Eugene’s passing. I haven’t seen him in May many years. The only family members who would know me are his brother Anthony and sister Barbara. Our parents were very very close friends, Marie and Sam Bruno. I remember the fun days our families had in Lavalette when we were young. My sincere condolences to all your family.

You said it best! He loved people forming lasting friendships. I learned so much from Gene but the most important and lasting teaching will be this. I will miss his Gene-isms. Always light in nature and well intended in a spirit of love. I'm certain they will reappear to me as needed. We often characterize people are kind and caring. Gene was one of those people who put those attributes to action! He was a good example. Dear family and friends, as we grieve and maybe feel empty with our loss may we also feel full and blessed. So let's lift up our glasses to "little sips of love". To his immediate family I offer my most sincere sympathies. God Bless and be with you. Love, Sandy Hopkins

How very much we as fellow NJ wine makers will miss Gene. He was always the master of protocol - reminding us that Roberts Rules should apply to our procedures. He was always for the good of order. And he was always one who made the beginning of our meeting late because he had to kiss all of the ladies and shake the hand of all the men!! How we all loved Gene.
Steve and I especially remember when you were starting your winery and came to visit. It was clear immediately that Gene was a master wine maker and that your business would thrive. He was such a presence at wine festivals, farmers markets and wherever he went with his cheery outlook on life and his genuine enthusiasm for others.
Gene will live on in each of us - when we remind ourselves to follow the rules, when we remind ourselves to give one another a hug, when we remind ourselves to be cheerful for others - no matter our own circumstances.
We love Gene dearly. Our hearts go out to you Anne and to your children and grandchildren.
Fondly,
Audrey & Steve Gambino

I’ve known Gene for a little over a year, but I feel I’ve known him all my life. He shared his friendship and love of life with everyone he met, and the day you met him he became your friend. Gene brought people together and opened up our hearts with his laughter and his wisdom. I will be hearing his words in my ears for the rest of my life.
