Rosemary DeMasso (Roe, Aunt Roe, Babe), 79, of Oakland, NJ, passed away on April 14, 2020 at the Oakland Care Center. A private burial service at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Totowa, NJ will be held on Friday April 17, 2020. There will be a memorial service held at a future date. Rosemary was born on December 20, 1940 at Barnert Hospital in Paterson, New Jersey to Basile DiMasso and Santina Fusco (aka Joseph DeMasso and Susie Fusco). She went to East Rutherford High School and graduated in 1958. Right after high school she completed the course work to become a hair stylist and worked for Gino Technicutters for 53 years and winning a NJ State Hair Stylist award early in her career. She enjoyed time with her family, whether it be the regular Sunday dinners with a rousing game of penny poker; drives in the country, to the shore or to a good flea market. She also enjoyed traveling, her trips to Italy, Hawaii, Las Vegas or a group bus ride to Atlantic City. And she loved her NY Giants! The last seven years of her life was at Oakland Care Center after having a stroke in 2011. But that did not stop her, she made friends both resident and staff, enjoyed painting, jewelry making, and playing daily poker games with her gang at the center who fondly called her the 'card shark'. Rosemary is survived by her brother, Joseph DeMasso of Sun City Center FL, nieces Patty DeMasso-Anderson (Bryan) of Manlius NY, Suzanne DeMasso (Steve Ulrich) of Port Hadlock WA, Kelly Stewart (John) of East Bentleigh, Australia and Angela Ardolino of Las Vegas NV. Great-nieces and nephews Lauren Dale Anderson-Smith, Corey Anderson, Vanessa Stone-Ulrich, Claire Stewart, Craig Stewart, Deanna Burton and Desirae Ardolino. And proud Godmother to her niece Suzanne and Roberta Argyos of Hawthorne NJ. She is preceded in death by her brother Philip DeMasso in 2016. Memorial donations can be made to the Salvation Army, St. Jude's, or Wounded Warrior. These are just a few of the many nonprofit organizations that Rosemary donated to regularly, and there were a lot! The family would like to thank the staff and fellow residents of Oakland Care Center for their kindness and caring for Rosemary who will be missed beyond measure, to all those that called her sister, aunt, cousin and friend. Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd., Totowa is in charge of arrangements.
