To the family, please accept my sincere condolences. I had the pleasure of retaining Ms. Clifton for a custody case in which I found her to be the most supportive and attentive attorney I've ever met. She stood her ground in the court room and didn't back down from opposing counsel. I am saddened to learn of her passing, as I was trying to find her updated contact info via Google to come across this page. Ms. Clifton, I thank you for your assistance, your counsel and your attention. May your soul Rest In Peace.
D.S.

Cristyn and I went to Rutgers together and remained close friends ever since. She was truly one of my very favorite people. She was beautiful, kind, smart, humble, hard working and such a devoted mother. I was always excited to talk to her. She made me feel happy. I am so proud to call her my friend. Her devotion to Kayden was fierce. I will miss my friend ❤️.

We are so sorry to hear of Cris’ passing. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Jimmy, Kaden and her family and dear friends. Cristyn was my lawyer for a difficult case, and we bonded instantly and kept in touch till her passing. She was such a special person and had a soft spot in my heart.

These days with Social Media, it’s been so odd to learn about the death of a friend via Facebook, or text for that matter. But as odd as it is, I just need to pour it out online. Here was my Facebook post:
I hadn’t spoken to Cristyn D. Clifton in years, but I am so sad she is gone. There is something about losing a childhood friend - suddenly everything is stripped away and you are 15 again. Cris was my best friend at the time - the keeper of my secrets (there were many) and my crushes (there were few). In high school, Cris was such an anomaly - the cheerleader with a feisty temper, the honors student who liked to rebel, and the best friend to a motley crew of strays who weren’t strays at all (she just hadn’t introduced us to each other yet). I will always love her because she loved me and was my true friend when I honestly thought no one could. I am sad that we grew apart, and I mourn for those family and friends who feel an even bigger loss. If it hits me hard, I am sure it hits you harder. I read in a book once that, at times, when someone dies that the biggest show of faith is our human instinct to ask God to give us back someone who died, even if it is for just one day. Not to refute Gods power over the living, but instead to embrace it. If anyone could pull off that, it would be He. So today I am wistful and childish. And I wish God could give Cris back to us, just for one day. Tomorrow, I will hopefully stop asking.

My sister was a lawyer and a single Mom. She was a diplomat when warranted, but generally speaking, you didn't want to be on the opposing side of an argument. She was kind. She loved the beach. We both realized we love dogs relatively recently. She was brilliant. She called me Jake. Nobody in the world besides her called me Jake, not since I was a kid. She once cracked a beer bottle over the head of a guy who was heckling me at a karaoke competition. I won the competition. I got tickets for us to see U2 at the Meadowlands after our Mom passed away, and we both agreed it was one of the best concerts EVER. She really, really, really loved K.
I can't believe she's gone. I wish I'd made it back home before this happened. I'm going to miss her so much.

I met Cristyn when she was a student at Rutgers. She lived down the hall from my sister. She made a lasting impression on me. Once the girls graduated from Rutgers I only saw Cristyn a hand full of times but I always felt a special connection to her. She was always so ambitious and hard working but she knew how to have a good time. Life never seemed easy for Cristyn but she always preserved. I admired her strength. She was strong but I always felt like I wanted to protect her. She will be missed.
