Obituary of Carmela Margaret Solazzo

Solazzo, Carmela Margaret (nee Nazzaro), age 95 passed away in her sleep at Llanfair Nursing Home, Wayne, NJ on Wednesday, January 22, 2020. Carmela was born on August 29, 1924 in Paterson and has been a lifelong resident of that city. Her parents Raffaelle Nazzaro and Anna (Ambrosone) and siblings Jesse Ravo, Charles, Mario and Herman pre-deceased her. She attended St. Michaels School and was a parishioner of St. Michaels for the majority of her life. In her later years she attended St. Stephens Church, Paterson. She married Angelo Solazzo who pre-deceased her in 1968 in 1949. She had three children Lucy, Angela and Dominick pre-deceased her in 1988. Carmela worked in the garment industry until her retirement. She is survived and will be missed by her two daughters Lucy Lamartine (Barnegat, NJ) and Angela Van Orden (Barnegat, NJ), four grandchildren, James and Joshua Van Orden and Lauren and Adam Lamartine, and three great-grandchildren James, Dominic and Ava Van Orden. She will also be missed by her nephews and nieces especially her nephew, Ralph Ravo who was a consistent visitor during her residence at the nursing home. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial mass at St. Gerard's R.C. Church, Paterson on Thursday at 10:00 AM. Inurnment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Totowa.
