Obituary of Serop Basralian

Serop Basralian age 79 of West Caldwell died peacefully surrounded by his loving family in Wayne, NJ on December 28, 2019. He is survived by his loving wife, Hasmig (nee Saatjian) Basralian of West Caldwell, his sister Anahid Yeranossian and her husband Haig, his sister Lucy Yeranossian and her husband Kaloust as well as many nieces and nephews. He is preceded by his sister Jeanne d'Arc (nee Basralian) Ohanian. Born in Beirut, Lebanon he lived there for twenty-nine years. In 1969, he immigrated to the United States and settled with family in Queens, NY where he worked as a mechanic for Thomas' English Muffins. Serop earned a promotion to Maintenance Manager at the Thomas' plant in Totowa, NJ in 1977 which prompted Serop, and his wife, to move to West Caldwell, NJ. He worked at the Totowa plant for twenty-eight years before retiring in 1997. Serop was active in civic activities throughout his time in West Caldwell. The Mayor of West Caldwell, NJ appointed Serop to the post of Vice Chairman of the Senior Citizen Transportation Committee for Caldwell, West Caldwell and Roseland. He was also an Associate member of the Passaic County Police Chiefs Association. Above all Serop touched so many lives by his generosity and kindness and will be missed by everyone who knew him. Relatives and friends may visit Tuesday, January 7th from 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 PM at the Festa Memorial Funeral Home at 111 Union Blvd. in Totowa, NJ. All are invited to attend the funeral from the Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd, Totowa, on Wednesday, January 8th at 10:00 AM. Funeral services to follow at St. Vartanantz Armenian Church, Ridgefield, NJ at 11:00 AM. Interment at Hackensack Cemetery, Hackensack, NJ immediately following the Funeral Services. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Vartanantz Armenian Church, 461 Bergen Blvd., Ridgefield, NJ 07657 would be appreciated.
