Obituary of Mario Portanova

Portanova, Mario age 72 of Paterson at rest in Paterson on September 8, 2019. Beloved husband of forty five years of the former Concetta Siano of Paterson. Loving Father of Pina Portanova-Muller and her husband Darren of Lincoln Park and Igino Portanova of Paterson. Dear brother of Rita Pirone of Paterson, Maria Ficca of Hawthorne, Antonio "Toni" Portanova of Wayne, Gerardo Portanova of Paterson and the late Luigi Portanova, the late Silvestro Portanova and the late Alfredo Portanova.  Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. Born in Avellino, Italy he came to the U.S.A. in 1966 settling in Paterson. He was an Auto Body Specialist for Glen Toyota, Fair Lawn for many years before retiring in 2004. Mr. Portanova was a true perfectionist. He was a member of the Roma Club of Paterson, Woodland Park. He enjoyed tending to his vegetable and flower gardens. He was an avid fan of the Napoli Soccer team. He had a very strong work ethic, was a handyman and jack of all trades. He enjoyed Sunday trips to Home Depot with his son. He was a fan of Formula 1 Racing. Mario was passionate about his wife's homemade cooking of Italian cuisine. He was a very selfless man who cherished time spent with his family and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral from the Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd., Totowa, on Thursday at 9:30 AM. Funeral Mass to follow at St. Gerard R.C. Church, Paterson at 10:00 AM. Entombment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery Mausoleum, Totowa. Friends may visit Wednesday from 4-8 PM.
