Obituary of Maria Alicia Arana

Arana, Maria Alicia (nee Pineda), age 94 of Paterson at rest in Paterson on February 22, 2019. Beloved wife of the late Cesar Arana, (1988). Loving mother of Gloria Arana of Peru, Doris Santamaria of Wayne, Nancy Gordillo of Pembrook Pines, FL, Cesar Arana, Jr. of Paterson and Ronald Arana of Paterson. Dear grandmother of Gino, Jessica, and Jenifer Pedreschi, Frank Pajuelo, Jeannie and Lauren Arana, Giovanna and Vanessa Castillo, Vanessa and Eric Gordillo, and Carla Santamaria. She is also survived by 5 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Born in Huancavelica, Peru, she came to the United States in 1970 and resided in Paterson. She came to visit her children and soon after, fell in love with this country. Alicia was a stay at home mom, but before having her children, she was a singer on Peru National Radio. Her love for cooking was what always brought her family together. She loved to play Bingo. She loved the beach and the nature of Garrett Mountain. She enjoyed visiting Atlantic City. She was a fan of the Peruvian National Volleyball and Soccer team. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral from the Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd, Totowa, on Thursday at 8:45 AM. Funeral Mass to follow at St. James R.C.
