I think that for most people who knew my mom it was a blessing........perhaps she touched your heart and you grew to love her. For me, I was blessed to have had her as my mom. I would often spend time talking with my mom about different things and learned much about life by doing so. I remember her telling me about how hard it was to leave her family in Peru and come to the United States. How she would often cry alone and question whether she had made the right decision convincing my father to come to the United States. She often told me that she made the sacrifice for her children they could have a better future. She worried about what type of future her children would have if we stayed in Peru. Parents want their children to do better than they did and in my parents case that is certainly true. My brothers and I have done well for ourselves and my mother's dream for her children was realized. The sacrifice my parents made coming to the United States was not in vain. From stories she told me I learned courage. My mother was a strong woman, a courageous woman........a fighter but she also had a gentile side and compassion for others. My mother would often offer her tenants a plate of food if they were hungry. My mother would let people stay in our house if they had no place to stay. From watching these acts of kindness I learned compassion. I also watched my mother take care of my father who was ill for many years, take care of a household, raise 3 sons, and also work. To accomplish this my mother had to manage her time well. By watching my mother I learned how important it is to be organized. I will miss having conversations with my mom, but I will never forget the life lessons she taught me by her words and her actions. I was blessed to have her as my mom. Rest in peace mom, you will always be in my heart.

as my family were celebrating my father's birthday.. we also had to say goodbye to my loving Tia (aunt). She was made all of my Halloween costumes when I was grammar school. She also made my sweet 16 dress. She always said she wanted to make my wedding dress... she always came to every birthday party, and celebration. 2 weeks ago I was blessed to see her. she cried when she saw me and i cried with her and we hugged for a while..i will always treasure the memories that I have with her. I love you Tia China...
