Obituary of Joseph Hoban

Hoban, Joseph "Joe" W. age 79 of Woodland Park at rest in Morristown on October 25, 2018. Born in Paterson, he moved to West Paterson in 1972. He was a Captain with the Paterson Police Department retiring in 1994 after working there for 33 years. After that, he was a Detective at William Paterson University, Wayne. Mr. Hoban was a parishioner of St. James R.C. Church, Totowa.

He was a member of PBA Local #1 and was a long time member of the Passaic County Police & Fire Emerald Society and served as a trustee. He held dual membership with the Essex County Police & Fire Emerald Society. He was also US Navy Veteran. He was a true family man always speaking highly of his wife and family, and adored his grandsons and cherished time spent with them. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed travelling, especially to Ireland.

Beloved husband of 51 years to the former Mary Cusack of Woodland Park. Loving father of Beth Dotro & her husband Frank of Randolph and Mike Hoban of Mahwah. Devoted grandfather of Joseph and Daniel Dotro. Caring brother of Patricia Mangarell of Clifton, Dorothy Yost of Columbus, Ohio, and Robert Hoban of Clifton. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral from the Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd, Totowa, on Monday at 8:45 AM. Funeral Mass to follow at St. James RC Church, Totowa at 9:30 AM. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Totowa. Friends may visit Sunday 4:00 - 8:00 pm.
