Obituary of William Frederick Dykstra

Dykstra, William Frederick, age 66 was born in Paterson to the late Frederick and Wilma Dykstra and passed away at home after a long courageous battle with cancer on June 7, 2018. He worked 27 years for the Passaic County Sheriff's Department rising in the ranks to Captain and retiring as Chief in 2001. He was the respected Commander of the Sheriff's Emergency Response Team and proudly trained as the County's Bomb Technician and Bomb Dog Handler. He is survived by his devoted wife Elizabeth (nee: Bayer) Dykstra of Manchester, loving children Brian Dykstra of Paterson, Robin Dykstra of Woodland Park, grandson Joseph Granata of Woodland Park, granddaughter Ryanne Dykstra of Harlem, sister Ruth Henion (Tom) of Paterson, and a host of relatives and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service at the Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd, Totowa, on Monday at 11:00 AM. Entombment to follow at Fair Lawn Memorial Cemetery Mausoleum, Fair Lawn. Friends may visit Sunday 3:00 - 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 and/or VNA Health Group, 23 Main Street, Suite D1, Holmdel, NJ 07733 would be appreciated.
