Obituary of Rose Muraca

Muraca, Rose "Rosie" (nee Cossari) age 97 a Totowa resident for sixty six years, at rest in Oakland on May 8, 2018. Beloved wife of the late Valentine Muraca (1992). Loving Mother of Frank Muraca and his family of Totowa and Sandra Charalampous and her husband Chris of Totowa. Dear grandmother of Christina Riso and her husband Andrew, Lisa Kelly and her husband the late Dennis Kelly and Andrea Caoile and her husband Ryan. Devoted great grandmother of Shane and Sienna Riso, Samantha Rose Kelly, Jacob, Adam and Christopher Caoile and David Robinson. Born in Borgia, Prov. di Calabria, Italy, she came to the U.S.A. as a child in 1933 settling in Paterson before moving to Totowa sixty six years ago. Mrs. Muraca was the owner/proprietor of Sandra's Merchandise & Dress Shop on Union Blvd., Totowa before chain stores came in to the area. She was also a Seamstress for Various Coat Factories in the Paterson area before retiring in 1970. Rosie was a member of the I.L.G.W.U., New York, N.Y. She was also a member of the Totowa Seniors. She was an avid reader, she loved to cook, bake, sew, and crochet. "Rosie" could always be seen at school and sporting events supporting her grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by all. "The heart remembers what the mind no longer can." Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service at the Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd., Totowa, on Friday at 10:00 AM. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Totowa. Friends may visit Friday from 8:00 - 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN. 38105 would be appreciated.
